How to Volunteer / Help Ft McCoy Afghanistan Refugees

Ft. McCoy Refugees

Background from Ft McCoy

The Department of Defense recently approved a request for assistance from the Department of State to provide temporary housing, sustainment, and support inside the United States for up to 22,000 Afghan Special Immigration Visa applicants and their families. The three installations approved to support, including Fort McCoy.

U.S. Northern Command will coordinate the details for this effort with the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Health and Human Services, as necessary.... [This support will not] negatively affect military training, operations, readiness, or other military missions, including National Guard or Reserve readiness. DOS will maintain responsibility for the well-being and support of these Afghan special immigrants and their family members at all times on the installation.
